Origins

Quinta São Gonçalo was built in 1853, restored in 1999 and remodeled in 2022, with the aim of maintaining its historic structure.
Surrounded by gardens and tropical fruit trees, this guest house is located in east Funchal, 100 metres above sea level.
You will find paved mosaics on the outside floor, which are very typical of an old and traditional house in Madeira.
This is a romantic and charming guest house, definitely worth visiting.

The Guest House

Spectacular views of the sea, the harbour and Funchal.

With 5 bedrooms, this house retains the ambience of a private home of old times with modern furniture – designed and decorated by the well-known Nini Andrade; to ensure that you enjoy a unique and memorable holiday.

Quinta São Gonçalo is only 8 minutes away from Funchal center. It is an excellent place to stay, away from touristy crowds but close enough to walk to the city center. You can also go by bus or, if you want to rent a car, we have free parking available.

Quinta São Gonçalo also has a farm with biological plantation of bananas and other typical fruit trees.

We offer closer contact with local residents and the best advice on places to visit in Madeira, according to your interests.

Breakfast is served on the charming patio almost all year-round and also in our breakfast room.

Enjoy reading a book while sunbathing on one of our outdoor lounge chairs, along with the magnificent view of Funchal.
